Beach Community Grange to host benefit Basket Bingo

CHESTERFIELD - The Beach Community Grange No. 958 of Virginia, located at 11401 Bundle Road, will be having a Longaberger Basket Bingo to benefit "Madison L. Mingloski", a 19-month-old child diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. The event will be held Nov. 15, at the Grange.

There are 100 seats available for the event and tickets are being sold for $20 each. Tickets must be paid for in advance by Oct. 24.

Also, anyone wishing to make a donation to The Madison' Fund, is invited to send donations to The Madison Fund, c/o Sandra Walker, 12500 Nash Road, Chesterfield, VA 23838 and make checks payable to BCG/ Madison.

Those purchasing tickets and attending this fundraiser are also asked to bring in non-perishable foods and l-pound jars of peanut butter to be donated to the Virginia Food Bank. Those who do this will receive tickets to be put into a special drawing for a basket.

The Grange has been active since1871(www.NationalGrange.org). It is a nonprofit organization and has members from all around the Tri-Cities, Richmond, Blackstone, Crewe and other Southern Virginia counties.

A few of the organization' recent community outreach projects included:

• A Longaberger Basket Bingo held on Sept. 20, to raise money for "Madeline's House" in the Southside Virginia area. This is a safe haven for domestic violence and sexual assault victims. The membership of the Grange presented "Madeline's House" with a check for $1,700.00.

• Grange members are ordering a large number of dictionary's for the "Words for 3rds" program the Grange sponsors at six local elementary schools for all third-graders to have for their own dictionary

• Members of the Grange, along with the local YMCA furnished dinner, took 10 children shopping with $100 per child furnished by the Grange to buy school clothes, shoes and coats. The YMCA then gave the child dren all of the school supplies they needed to start this school year.

Most every Friday night the Grange bas Bingo, beginning at 7 p.m Jackpots depend on attendance. Food is available to purchase from the kitchen staffed by Grange members.

Grange members will soon be working with the "Christmas Mother" again this year to help make someone's "Christmas Wish's" come true. And the organization will offer the "Lifeline Screening" at the Grange Dec. 11, for anyone who would like to attend. More information will be available on this later.

The Grange building is available to rent for receptions, meetings arid can be available for dinner meetings with wait staff for a fee.

Grange to host Halloween Party

  CHESTERFIELD - The Beach Community Grange No. 958 of Virginia, located at 11401 Bundle Road, will host its annual Halloween Party at 6:45 p.m. Oct. 31 at the Beach Community Grange. This event is free and is part of the organization's community service each year.

There will be games, prizes, a costume contest, pumpkin decoration contest, refreshments for all.and treat bags for all the children that attend.
